Here are the cover and several page illustrations from a children's picture book I wrote and illustrated.

All of the art and typography is hand drawn. The swirly, colorful texture is acrylic paint on raw cotton canvas. Some initial character sketching is done with technical pen, but most of it was created digitally, freehand, with a WACOM tablet using Photoshop. I strive for a hand-drawn look in all my books. I like the playfulness and organic feeling it evokes.

Overview

A modern day tale of devoted friendship and the things each of us has to endure to make a valued friendship last. Spring has sprung in vibrant and colorful Under Valley. The valley is alive with wonderful creatures and tales to tell. As our story unfolds, we find an unusual pair. One is a silky orange snake, the other is a bright pink square. Their new friendship will blossom, then change, and change again. Let's hope, for their sake, it gets better in the end.
